When the top priority for your surface is a clean solution that performs as well as a fluoropolymer, American Durafilm applies PureShield, a proprietary, PFAS-free coating. Beyond the PFAS-free offering, PureShield is an eco-friendly option that is:
Fluoropolymer free
Silicone free
NOT subject to California Prop 65 warning
CRF 21 Compliant
TSCA Compliant
REACH and RoHS compliant
Our coatings can be sprayed alone or combined to meet almost any application’s demands, whether they be for purity, insulation, release, low friction, abrasion resistance, or chemical resistance.

With a variety of coatings that offer excellent release, good insulation, & a non-wetting surface, while still being FDA compliant, we can help you find a solution to almost any relevant problem. This feature also extends the range of the coatings we apply to the biopharma lab. The coatings we apply serve as excellent barriers to prevent cross-contamination, work to reduce friction between instruments, & provide a non-wetting surface for easy clean-up. Whether it’s a curing tray, bakeware, a test tube rack, or a seal plate, we can help find a coating that will offer an FDA compliant solution.

]]>Nearly all of the coatings applied by American Durafilm Co., Inc. offer a level of electrical insulation. This property often goes hand in hand with good chemical resistance because the principles are the same. In order to provide good insulation it is important to melt flow the coating to form a uniform, smooth, pinhole free surface that shields the substrate underneath. The coatings we can apply can be partially fluorinated, in an instance where a high temperature tolerance and excellent release aren’t as much of a concern. These coatings, such as PVDF, ETFE, & ECTFE can be applied thicker to further take advantage of the excellent dielectrics of the fluoropolymer family of materials. Furthermore these coatings are incredibly durable & chemically resistant while offering the best insulation factors. In applications where higher temperature tolerances and/or better release are required, FEP & PFA coatings still offer good dielectric strength. For great release, PTFE can even be used in applications where a lower dielectric strength is needed.

]]>Fluoropolymers have long been known throughout the world as some of the most chemically inert materials ever created. American Durafilm Co., Inc. has a wide variety of both partially fluorinated and fully fluorinated coatings that are resistant to virtually all chemicals and solvents. These coatings can protect parts in harsh environments such as platting baths, or they can help prevent cross contamination of metallic containers and the samples they contain. Our ETFE, ECTFE, & PVDF coatings offer greater thicknesses and can provide tremendous chemical resistance where high temperatures and release properties are less of a concern. These coatings also hold up well to abrasion. If higher temperature tolerances and/or release properties are required, FEP and PFA offer great chemical resistance. These coatings are fully fluorinated thermoplastics that melt flow during cure to provide a consistent and pin hole free finish in a thinner finished coat.

Wed, 09 Feb 2022 09:38:22 +0000https://americandurafilm.logicalspiders.com/?post_type=services&p=577American Durafilm can offer coating solutions for applications whose operating temperatures exceed those of other plastics and epoxies. The coatings we apply can serve in a wide variety of environments where either high temperature alone, or a combination of high temperatures, chemical exposure, and abrasion are a factor.

The coatings we apply can serve in a wide variety of environments where either high temperature alone, or a combination of high temperatures, chemical exposure, and abrasion are factors. Our partially fluorinated offerings of ETFE, ECTFE & PVDF can be used up to 300F and serve as great electrical insulators and are also able to provide abrasion and chemical resistance. Our fully fluorinated coatings reach beyond this to handle applications up to 400F for FEP, and even further to 500F for PTFE & PFA.
We also offer a variety of self-priming thin coats that cover everything in between. These coatings offer exceptional performance, and we can help you tailor solutions in these ranges that will provide that great temperature tolerance along with some extra insulation, chemical resistance, and abrasion resistance. These coatings also have many FDA compliant combinations we can offer, while still meeting the same demands as an industrial coating.

American Durafilm Co., Inc. offers a wide range of fluoropolymer coatings that are both hydrophobic and oleophobic. When properly applied and cured, these coatings exhibit an extremely low surface energy, which allows liquid to bead up and run off their surface. These coatings have temperature tolerances as high as 500F, and many offer FDA compliance as an added benefit. Whether in an industrial setting, a lab, or in the kitchen, we can offer a coating solution that will allow for easy clean-up of almost any liquid you use.
Low Friction
American Durafilm Co., Inc. can apply coating to various metal substrates, ceramics, and glass that will allow it to slide over another surface with ease. Serving as a fully cured dry film lubricant, there is an incredible array of fully fluorinated coatings that can be applied alone or in combination to reduce a surface’s coefficient of friction to as low as 0.04 (both static & kinetic) depending on the circumstances. These types of reductions can eliminate the need for liquid and oil lubricants in many applications and reduce friction to prevent seizing, galling, heat, etc. These coatings can be tailored to also have increased abrasion resistance, good dielectric strength, and/or chemical resistance.
